I thought G4.5 was a big improvement to G3.5. The hovering and a harrier is a lot more realistic. I feel. Also the the plane bounces on the gear and the gear squats on landing. The water is stupid though.

And there are those on the payroll......

I've had G3 (now 3.5) since it first came out, before photofields were even available. I owe a lot my ability to it; however, the state 3.5 was left in, physics-wise is joke.. KE should have at least done one more minor release before killing off all support. It's, IMO, almost completely worthless. If it weren't for the online multiplayer, I wouldn't even have it installed.. For a minor release or 2, the physics were pretty nice. From 3.5 on, they've been laughable at best.. I downloaded the Demo for v4 and felt the physics were a little better, but not enough to sway me to purchase it. 4/4.5 is not without it's issues as well.. Did KE ever get the multiplayer to work for more than 5 minutes a session?? I really wanted to get into the last offerings, but it just didn't do it for me.

With that said... I'm looking forward to trying out 5 and will absolutely buy it if it meets my expectations. I can't say my confidence level is very high at this point, though. Looks like they've focused all the dev effort into the 'game' side of it and not in the physics. Bummer.

Worst part is that everytime they come out with one of these new ones, you have to either upgrade your computer's graphix card or just buy a whole new computer, so i am really jumping for joy eh......... I used to like the sim, but now its just, EHHH not for me, why not just go outside and fly a foamie the same way you would in the sim........ just saying, if this is really worth it, i'll get it, but i didn't see much of an improvement between 4-4.5, i will say that i agree with the other guys that, the older versions DID HELP to learn stuff, the newer versions are like someone's doing the hard part for you...... just my opinion.

Just out of curiosity. What do you guys think of the earlier sim versions like G1 , G2, G3 etc physics wise to the latest version? I know the graphics and effects are far better but how did the older ones compare to really flying a model?

I prefer the older versions of G3. I just updated to use the IMAC edit of the 330L, but I will probably revert back shortly.

Biggest improvement in my opinion was from G2 to G3. After that, I thought the physics got worse. Others won't agree but I actually went back from 3.5 to 3. Tried 4 and 4.5 extensively at the hobby shop and wasn't impressed enough to upgrade. I'm sure with a lot of tweaking to the aircraft you'd get 4.5 to fly better but for me old G3 is very good and I don't need a new computer.

I like G4.5 and I've used RF since version 2. I'm glad that KE is coming out with an alternative upgrade path because it really sucked to have to cough up $200 for each release... I'd sell the previous version on eBay, so that helped soften the blow. I just upgraded my computer to a ATI Radeon 5870 and a quad core CPU overclocked to 4Ghz, so I'm ready for any graphic updates.
