Hey all, new to the site but its been good to hear comments from some of you. I have a number of issues up coming with this new model, i may have said, petrol engins and larger planes has opened up a whole new world of flying to me. I am now at the beginner stage of flying again. Looking through sites i have found it hard to come accross a page that can give advice on how to set up servos and the linkages for 3D flying, how many i need for each control surface, best type of links for the rudder, elevators and so on. Does anyone know of a good website or even mail me info on the best way to set and program the servos up for my 33% Extra 300L as i dont know where to begin. I cant obtain the info from my club as i am the only one who is into 3D. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Kind regards Scott P.S i have attached a very rough sketch of a paint finish for my plane, let me know what you think. Cheers! |

Hey man, I'm just finishing a H9 33% extra. I'm using HiTec Digitals HS 5945 MG all the way around with 1 HS 5955TG on the rudder. I'm using the HiTEC servo programmer to set the center points and throw points , and match the duel aileron servos. (with Hitec you can program them so you don't need a match box! But you do need the programmer) Also using the SWB 1.5 " servo arms to get some nice 3D throws. (With 3D you want as much deflection as possible.. so the longer SWB arms will help with this) If you have the ability to have 3 rates, I would set the plane up with low rates per spec, high per spec, and then 3D rates... meaning as much throw as you can get... you can trim it back as needed. With 3D rates i would start off with at least 65% expo on ailerons, 70% on elevator, and 45% on rudder. Usually helps smooth the plane out. Also.. ask any questions you may have... there is A LOT of knowlege on this site... some of the best pilots in the world are here. Anything you may want to now... someone will most likely be able to answer!
