Default 2 Blade Propeller for DA 100?

Hey Guys,

I have a DA 100 that I am going to put on a 35% Dalton 260 and I can't seem to decide on what 2 blade prop to buy for the 100. I used to fly this engine on an older plane with a 3 blade 25x12 mejlik and I didn't really like the pulling power so I am going to switch to a 2 blade for the new Dalton. So should I get a 27x10 PT carbon prop or a 28x10 PT for the 100?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Neil

DA 100 users around here prefer the 27X10 over the 28X10 no matter what brand.

2nd: for that plane the 27x10 ( I prefer Mejlick ) but that is the right one - round cowl use a 26x12.

Wink Re: 2 Blade Propeller for DA 100?

Hello guy's, I flew IMAC in Advanced level, with similar airplane as you with the same engine DA100 with canister set-up.
This is my datas: PT28 X 10 at 6250 RPM, very quiet prop, good pull and performance, Mejzlik 28X10 at 6450 RPM, strong prop but ripping easly and noisy, the PT is my first choice for 2 blades.
I'm flying 3 baldes prop Mejzlik 25X12 at 5750 RPM, in cool condition good pull and good braking in downline, in the warm condition this combo not ideal, I'm flew Biella 24X12 3 blades at 6100 RPM, in the cool and warm condition perfect, very low noise. Next step for this summer I'm going to test Mejzlik 26X12N-3 blades ?

Stay tuned,

Yves from Montreal.

I had one of those PT props and liked it...they seem like decent props...

flyADV, were you using tuned pipes or can's when you were getting in the 6000 range with the 28x10?

I am going to be running KS canisters, front exhaust so I think I might opt to go with the PT 27x10 but still haven't firmly decided.

Thanks guys for your input,

Neil

No reason you can't get 6000rpm on stock mufflers with a Mejzlik 28-10, and I wouldn't think cannisters would pose any problem either. Mine's been doing that since the first run. Some of the 28 props load the engine about the same as a 27 due to their blade design.

Vess 27B on my 35% SD Yak, That's a lot of airplane for a DA 100. Best so far!

Here's the test - may take a few props to try but. Pull to a verticle upline, do a snap, if the engine maintains rpm and does not lug down then the prop is right for the plane. But then you have to decide on sound and wether you like the feel of the 2 blade or 3 blade.

Flew a 3 blade Engel 26*12 with 6100 rpm until my CARF Yak had a midair with MoEa. One year ago I used an Engel 28*14 2 blade also with 6100 rpm. Concerning such rather high revs I have to admit that I used BMB tuned pipes. With regular canisters there is no way to get such revs. Meanwhile there's a new prop released from Engel (it's from germany, no idea if it's available in the US) for the DA100: 29*12. From my personal point of view the Engel and Mejclik probs are pretty close in perfomance but the Mejcliks are louder. The prize is pretty much the same (120 euros).
