THE PAU edge 540 is a sweet plane. Its a perfect size, and with a DA 100 its a sweet imac plane and 3d plane. It handles real wel in the wind. And the service is top notch.

Wild Hare should be bringing their 35% Edge to market in the next month or two. Not composite but well made, light, and flies great. Plus the price is generally lower than anyone else. Another bonus should be the availability of a new 116cc twin from 3mm that's even with the DA 100 (or lighter) to turn into an ultra combination deal. The release dates should be pretty close to the same. I do know the W/H 35% Edge does all the big moves you will ask of it with a DA 85, so weight gets even better if you don't want to buy a big twin.

You won't be dissapointed going the the x-treme edge. I have to say it's got to be the best flying plane I've owned. put a da-100 on mine with standard mufflers with smoke and did not have to addd an ounce of weight to make it balance. The only vice that I've had with it so far is it's real slick and landing requires a lot of preplanning. It will fly at a crawl but getting it there is not easy.

That's the best way I've ever heard it explained... I've never looked more stupid then when trying to woe this thing down to land.. but once you get a handle on it, its very managable. My favorite plane.

I think BVM is the only distributor in the US... there are others in the UK and Australia. Its a shame... the industry needs more than one choice for composite planes, and these have been great, just lacking the sales/sponsoring relationships that could get them over the hump. I agree, from the price drops and the rumor mill, they may be selling out of what they have and saying goodby to the propeller business.

On the original one's the servo mounting in the wings was ridiculous. I ended up cutting hatch covers for ease of installation. (5955's wouldn't fit) Someone mentioned this has been changed, but I can not confirm this. I also had to trim the trailing edge of the wing and leading edge of the aileron to obtain more than 20 degrees of throw. If the price is right (close out) I would buy it. Here are a couple of pics of mine

A couple years ago Wild Hare was the first US company selling the Xtreme Composites planes. We had a 50cc Sukhoi, the little LR-1 pylon racer, and had completed the design and testing phase of a 41% Extra 260. They offered us their 100cc Edge but I declined because the dealer cost was very high. They gradually increased the dealer price on the other planes (which I had paid a lot of money to develop) to the point that it was impossible to make any money with them. To make matters worse XC was very difficult for me to deal with. I had to write off a lot of money and 2 years of work developing the product line.

So it does not surprise me if BVM also is having trouble. I have no inside knowledge, but I'm confident that it's not BVM's fault if the XC line is not setting the world on fire. The planes aren't bad but it takes more than a good product to make a succesful business.

I'm building a new XC 2.6 Edge in the red scheme and it has the servo bays molded into the wings, similar to Comp-Arf's. The XC servo mounts are built into the wings, whereas the Comp-Arf's servos mount to the hatch cover itself.

Mounting the servos in the wings are easy compared to the elevator servos in the stabs. Those are a major PITA! I hope I don't have to replace those servos anytime soon.

The finish and quality between the Comp-Arf's and XC planes are about the same, from what I've seen. Either way, I'll never buy anything other than composite again. I'm down to one wood plane, and I plan to replace it with a composite next year.

There are build threads on both of these planes on FG. You'll find plenty of info there.

I hope that they come out with some nice schemes because I haven't been impressed with their Extra and Edge schemes. If they offer a scheme in the same league as Extreme Flight and the new Aero Works planes, I will definitely consider buying one.
