Post Are the Advantages there?

Ok so... I'm sure everyone's been noticing the price between DA-50 and a 3W 80. What is? like...
DA $595?
3W $650?

And the airframes

30% $600?
33% $700-750?

So. With that in my mind, if someone is going to enter into Giant Scale birds, it makes sense for them to skip up to a 33%, for only a hew hundred extra ($300ish?)

But lets say you alreasy have a 30%. Does the jump to 33% have enough advantages to justify the jump? I remember once Garret Morrison saying
" with a 33% you can start to feel the coushiony feeling in a harrier more evident in the bigger big-Birds"

So would it be better to save the money till you get to a 35%, or could I justify selling my 30% airframe and engine, putting up a few hundred, and jumping up to.. say... a 33% AM Yak.

Just a thought.

Thanks for looking

FYI, the price on the 3W 80 is $600 right now, only $5 more than the DA 50. I think the 33% planes fly a lot better than the 50cc planes, just lighter wingloading and more power. Also, the AM 33% yak is supposed to be a 3D monster, I will have mine flying mid week, 3w 80.

Well there ya go. so the engines are the same price. You just have to pay extra for the airframe and the 2 extra wing servos.

razrback, wasn't the 3W 80/AM 33% Yak guys having some troubles with engine cooling?

I have a buddy building a 33% AM Yak right now, he sent me and e-mail about Cooling.. I'll see if I have it, I don't don't remember if he was running the 3W or ZDZ 80, but I'm pretty sure it was the 3W

Here you go, This is Frank's Yak with a 3W 80.. The baffles will be finished and painted.. And to me it looks like they will provide good airflow.

My experience has been that the 33% flys MUCH lighter than the 30%, and for me it was hard to tell much difference between 33% and 35%. As a matter of fact as far as 3D goes, I like my current 33% better than the 35% that I had last year.
