it also cost me around $900 for my electronics, accessories and engine for my current 50cc plane. The internal components are more expensive than the plane, lol but my current 50cc plane has to go so i can have storage space for the EF. | ||||||||||||||||||

First of all...I love composite air frames. Most of my planes have been Composite-Arfs and this is what I have learned. The larger the plane the more it makes sense that it is composite. Example...I have had both Extreme Flight 88" Extra and the 50cc Comp-Arf 2x2 Extra. The EF Extra is a heavier plane, but is a good bit larger. It also flies better (a lot better) and lands slower. The Compy 2x2 Extra, 2.12 Yak and Extra all land a little hot. Once you get to a 100cc or 150cc plane that is where the composites shine. They typically (not all) but typically weigh less than their wood ARF counter parts. My Compy 3.0 Yak crawls in to land and needs virtually no mixing to perform knife edge flight. They are harder to repair, but I didnt buy them to repair them anyway... Now back tot he 50cc planes. You will get more plane for the money by buying Extreme Flight RC...(I think they have the best 50cc plane on the planet)...and much easier to build too. |

Thanks pepatrick! I've decided to go with the EF since repairs will be a problem for me as a newbie in giant planes. And, i'm switching to the Yak 54 88" 'cause i really love thos very slow landings. |

The 58" EF Extra flies really well. One of the guys I compete with competed in Basic this season with his and looked great in the air. I also saw someone flying the 50cc EF 88" Extra at my last contest, and it looked very tight in the air. We were flying in some decent winds too, and it tracked beautifully. The pilot was also good, but it seemed to cut through the wind with ease. The thing I noticed most about the 88" Extra was how huge the plane looked. I was almost positive it was a 100cc while it was flying. It wasn't until I saw it next to a Dalton 35% that I realized how much smaller it was, and even then, it didn't look that small beside the Dalton. It makes my Wild Hare Sukhoi look small, and it's only 3" longer wingspan. |
