Help! Composite-ARF Extra 2.12m or Extreme Flight Extra 300 88"?

Hi!

I'm Patrick from the Philippines. I've been flying my TWM extra300-160s for almost 3mos. I just got it as a 2nd hand plane and has some hangar rash when i got it. It's a great flier, but i want to get a brand new 50cc plane so that i won't be bothering about repairing some parts of this plane. I'm thinking of getting an Extreme flight Extra 300 88" or a Composite-ARF Extra 2.12m but can't decide which plane is better. My preffered flying style is IMAC or precision flying. I sometimes do some 3D flying too. I already have a 3MM 53cc TOC engine. Is it true that composite-arf planes are heavy? if so, would the 53cc engine be enough for the 2.12 plane? What are the pros and cons of the 2 planes? I haven't seen this 2 type of planes in person. Please help me out, i know a lot of people here know these planes. Thanks!

Patrick

I have had 50 cc planes from both mfgs. EF Yak and CARF Yak. I know you are asking about the Extra, but some observations I have come across are both are very very good flying planes. The EF seems to be a lighter build overall. The Carf came in at 17lbs and my DA50 has no trouble at all pulling it around. I don't remember how much the EF Yak weighed.

I can't speak to your engine choice, but You will be happy with either of the 2 you decide on.

the EF is much more repairable when mishaps occur! i would be going with the EF for sure. nothing at all wrong with the compy, i have owned several.... i am just that impressed with the products that EF is putting out. the 88" extra will look MUCH bigger in the air than the 2.12m extra from comparf. i like the 50cc'ers that present like 100cc'ers and the EF stuff does just that.

I have several Extreme Flight planes. I love them all. It is to a point that I rarely look anywhere but EF for a plane.

I've tried flying the EF yak54 50cc. It's a great plane, but I've noticed is that the plane is quite hard to keep in track even in mild winds. Hands down for 3d flying for the EF of course. But here in our flying field, where the wind is always a problem, which model do you think would be a better flier in moderate-strong winds? Thanks for the tips guys!

The compy will fight the wind a little better, but that's because it's heavier, and smaller. The EF will fight it just as good as any other 50cc as far as the built up planes go. I just got mine, and I'll have it flying soon! I've flown most of there electrics, and planes just don't get better in my opinion.

the EF yak and the EF extra are 2 completely different planes! the extra is sleeker by nature therefore will cut the wind a bit better. i think that the EF 88" extra will handle the wind as well as any 50cc plane on the market!

smokin,

I just love how the comys squeel in the wind when I give it a snap. But i think I'll be going with the EF. For me it's more excellently built and according to you, it's easier to repair. Thanks for all the info guys!I really appreciate it.

I'm still saving for some of the equiptment, but I have the airframe, engine and tuned pipe so far. You won't regret getting this plane! You will love it! I got the DA-50, KS 1060 pipe, and a 25mm drop header.

I have the 58" Extra from Extreme Flight, and it is the best flying electric that I have ever flown period! It's awesome! I have a couple videos of it if you look at my media page. Anyway, the 58" is awesome, but the 50cc will be out of this world!

Here's the only pics that I have taken of my 88".

Here's some of the 58" (Just to let you know what the blue/yellow scheme looks like in the air.)

Danielph,

WOW! Awesome! Thanks for posting the pictures. I also plan to get the 58" extra after i get the 50cc so that i can have a smaller on for practice, but i would use a YS-63s four stroke engine instead since I already have one. I hope my current 50cc plane will get sold this week so that I can get extra budget for the EF extra 88". The EF really is bigger than any other 50cc, and it looks like it will fly like a 100cc.=) Pity, I already bought a pitts muffler for my engine, I should've just got a tuned pipe instead. Anyway, let us know if you've flown your plane already.=)

Glad you liked the pics! You will love both sizes! The 58" flies like a 1.40 size, and yes, the 50cc will fly a lot like the 33-35%ers! It'll be awesome! No, I haven't flown it yet. I still have to save about $900 before I can get everything for it...
