Default 40% Aviation Models YAK 54...

Would a DA 150 in this plane be under powered? The reason i'm asking is that this plane has been out for a while now, and they recomended a 150-200cc engine, and now since the 37.5% yak 54 came out they recomend a 150cc engine for that plane. So would a DA 150 be enough power for the 40% yak 54?????? Would it have enough power to rocket out of a hover?
thanx

No! The only time a DA 150 is going to rocket a plane out of a hover is on one
in the 35lb. range! chris

If you want it to rocket out of a hover, no it will not. Will it fly just fine on a 150, and pull out of a hover, yes. If you want an airplane to rocket out of a hover, stay in the 35% class, the power to weight ratios are much better than the 40% class of airplanes, not matter what engine you use.

Or.... just get your sticks to Senor Tanks level..
then rocketing out of a hover is unnecessary.
He prefers S......L......O........W...... rolling Harriers to leave a hover...

My buds flew that 40% for a while with a 157. It was better than a 150 but I would recommend the 37.5. The 40 is just too big, theres weighed like 46-47 with smoke... YIKES

A member of my club has one with a ZDZ 210. It has plenty of power to do anything you would want. It didn't appear to be seriously overpowered, though. I believe his is around 45lb's.
