Well guy's, I just recieved my new 40% tailwheel from my good friend Joe Jesky the other day. This tailwheel is going to be mounted on the 40% Carden Cap 232 I am currently restoring. I have seen these tailwheels on Andrew's planes before, but WOW. Now I have one going on my plane. Construction is a 3/16" titanium rod, with billett aluminum everything else. The tire is three o-rings. Very cool idea. Joe machines every part of this tailwheel himself, except the o-rings of course. If you are looking for that bad ass tailwheel for your new, or old project I would strongly suggest one of these. They sell for 90 bucks and are well worth every penny. I know he has them anodized in multiple colors. I asked him to make me a blue one, because the bottom of my plane is blue, so blue I got. Trust me people the pics do not do this part any justice, you really need to see one in person to fully appreciate it. If you are interested in getting one of these I would PM Animal Jesky. He can get you in touch with his brother. You could also use this same tailwheel on a 35% airframe. They hold up to harrier landings very well, but can still bend, and if you come down to hard in a harrier landing it is possible for the gear to bend enough to cause rudder contact. Other than that, the tailwheel is pretty much bulletproof. See pics below of the one Joe sent me. Mike Darr Last edited by Temptation; 11-24-2006 at 09:47 PM. Reason: spelling |

I've been running one of these for 2 years now, it's been on several different airplanes and just won't die. I've actually got to put new o-rings on mine. I didn't realize Joe was still making these. As my buddies say, these things will pimp your ride.

Hey mike what kind of retainers does it come with to hold it down on the fuse. I have a similar t/w set up but the retainers suck and the wire keeps pulling out of the hole in the fuse.

The bummer of this whole thing, is he is not set up for mass production. I don't think he ever intended it to be that way. He just makes these on his lunch breat at work when he can. I am sure a lot of people would buy them if they were readily available. Mike Darr | ||||||||||||||||||
