Has anyone used the Slimline Excel Fueling Valve? I'm building the PT-60 and using a SupreTigre .61 engine. There is very little room in the engine compartment to allow removal of the fuel line from the carburetor for fueling so I installed one of those in-line fueling valves by Slimline. I have not been able to start teh engine at all with this set up. I finally noticed that very little fuel is in the fuel line to the engine. It's like it's sucking in air from somewhere and I suspect the fueling valve. Has anyone used this before? Any suggestions? - KO1S

I'm sure you already know how to check to see if the fueling valve is your problem. Take the lines off and add a piece of brass tubing to connect them, then try to start the motor. Obviously if it starts at that point, you've isolated your problem. If it starts, the fueler should be replaced. I haven't used that particular fueler before, but I have had them get sticky and cause the problem you have. Normally the plunger gets stuck not allowing the fuel through, sometimes it even comes out the fuel inlet, then you know for sure that's your problem. Hope this helps.

The Excel is not a valve; it has no moving parts. I have one in the ShowTime and the Cap 580; both work flawlessly. Check your lines for kinks, binds, etc. The output line on the fueler body (the side that goes to the carburetor) needs to be slightly above the carb intake nipple. |
