i got to see the guy from germany fly his big electric at xfc this year, it was similar to the one shown from tas, it flew great but kept the hovering to a minium to save power. over all id go gas on big plane , the amount of charge time and expensive of battery is way to high to ever think about it,, now a 90 size would be fun to electric,, even tho are freaking expensize.. ill stay with the 480 outruner foamys...

I believe a few discussions on here or RCG have talked about the fact that esc's are abused more by partial throttle than WOT. The esc needs to dissipate heat when it restricts current not when it is open to current flow. Running out of power during a routine cannot be the issue. All you would need is properly sized batteries. The quick turnaround between flights is definitely an issue at competitive events.

I don't have first hand knowledge... but I would bet that it was to prevent the packs from overheating.

At the 2 meter/FAI Pattern size model.... the electrics begin to really shine....a hacker C50-14XL or one of the A60 outrunners on a 5000 mah 10S have great efficiency as you can use a 22 inch prop.
