My husband came home from work before we left for Joe Nall Week and shared with me the fact that 2 out of the 9 killed last month at Kabul International Airport were from our base here in the states, Langley AFB. The one guy had only been there TWO DAYS. He left behind a wife, young daughter and a baby boy.

To all that stopped my husband at the Nall and shook his hand thanking him for his service, I thank you. Most of all, I thank my Lord that He watched over my husband and kept him safe over in Kabul and that he was able to be at the Nall with his family.

Geez. I don't know where the motivation went over this winter...oh yeah, strike that, I do. My better half was stuck in a 6-month deployment. His original deployment was to Kuwait, but the masterminds there decided it was best to forward-deploy him to Kabul, Afghanistan. Let me tell you...this was one of the most frightening and drawn-out deployments I've ever had to endure as a spouse of an Air Force pilot. I am used to him being in a tanker giving a little sip of the sippy sip stuff to F-15's and 16's, or he's even been deployed as part of the launch and recovery element for the RQ-4 Global Hawk, but at least that is done from a "safe" location.

Well, fast-forward to January and we are finally reunited as a family. Reintegration is something we always look forward to after deployments. We like to jump in and just get back to normal life...hanging out with each other...best friends. The weather around here is starting to give way to friendly flying temps and we have equipment to start looking over for the start of the new flying season. After all, our second Joe Nall is less than 43 days away. Albert and I have some rust to shake off of our thumbs, new fuel to mix up and a new motor for me to break-in on my Carden.

Have I mentioned that I have the best husband in the world?! I DO! And I'm looking forward to hanging out with my best-est bud at fun flys this summer. I missed you at Chattanooga and the Ohio HuckFest last year Babe...it was no fun without YOU!
