My daughter called a few weeks back and told me she was going to get married and asked if the wedding could be held outside at my place. She wanted to do a Halloween theme wedding with everyone in costume.

Last night she was over and we were looking the place over to see were to set everything up. We got to discussing decorations. One of the things we wanted to do is to set up a small grave yard.

I have a stack of 4 inch thick styrofoam that I purchased last year, and decided that it would make great tombstones. I set and started playing with the first design last night.

With one piece of foam 4 feet square, a band saw, a hot wire, Dremel, some glue and a couple cans of spray paint, this is what I came up with.

At the field today, only plane in the air. Only flew the 30% Yak 7 flights 10 min each. Total air time approx 70 min.
Practiced rolling circles, cuban 8s, stall turns, spins.

6 hours at the field today. 5 flights on the 30% yak total air time approx 45 min.

About 12 flights on the big stick, many short flight to drop the skydiver, total airtime about 60 min.

Skydiver 6 drops including one dirt dive, Also one drop where he had a streamer due to one shoulder harness unhooking on the opening.

I thought it made me feel old when my first grandchild was born. I was wrong. Yesterday brought it home in a big way. I had the pleasure of calling my daughter to wish her a happy 21st birthday.

Now before you go asking why I didn't tell her in person, I was working until late last night and she was out with her boyfriend.

Next month I get the pleasure of hosting her wedding at my place. The Saturday before Halloween they are getting married in a costume theme wedding. She is going to be wearing a "Corpse Bride" costume.

If you couldn't have guessed I will be dressed as a wizard. LOL

Man, I'm sitting here at home, in uniform for work due to the fact that I'm the back up crew tonight. Wishing I was out in Vegas hanging with the crew for the Huckfest.

I guess I will have to settle for the Terre Haute Air Fair tomorrow. Looking forward to watching the full scales do their thing. There is a great line up of pilots including Skip Stewart, Jurgis Kairys, Gene Soucy, and others.

Another short day. Not a real good one.

Started out by stretching the high-start. Ranged test the sailplane, not good receiver screwed up. Pulled the receiver out of the skydiver and put in the sail plane. Good range test. In an hour of attempts I never could get a good launch (Normally not a problem) Longest flight 4 1/2 min.

Got the 30% out wings on, radio test - good, fuel. Went to put the hatch on and found one of the mounting lugs broke. De-fuel, disassemble and back in the van.

Was just about to give it up for the day when a man and his boy stopped by to see. I put the wing on the Big stik and flew one flight. 12 min wrung the sucka out. Decided to stop on a good note.

Now time to unload and repair the hatch and check out the bad receiver. I hope that the problem is a bad crystal. This receiver is the one that was in my skydiver when he did his dirt dive.

I finally have some time off after the short weekend at the D.O.G.S. That means that I was finally able to get the camping gear out of the van, and put the riser back in for hauling planes.

Getting ready to load up and head for the field. 87 degrees, 46% humidity, 12mph wind at 80 degrees to the runway. Not a day for the small stuff.

This site has been discussed in the forums but I love it. The closest site for weather they have is about 30 miles away but that's close enough be be pretty accurate. I attached a couple of screen shots.

Well, time to load the planes.

I got home from the DOGS about 3:30 am Sunday morning. I had to work a 24 hour shift on Sunday.

I enjoyed the trip. Being in an area filled with so much avaitaion history is always very humbling.

Spending time with friends and fellow FlyingGiants is always worth the trip.

Well the van is packed, I'm ready to go. Waiting for my flying buddy to show up. Then it's the dirve to Dayton.
I'm not ging to be flying this year, but looking forward to spending time with some friends and meeting new ones. What better place than the history soaked city of Dayton. The place where the Wright Brothers turned a bicycle shop into a hanger and lab for creating the first power flight. Just down the road from the Waco field. And, even the grounds of the Air Force musem.I will be back Monday with a ton of photos.

After the weekend trip into KY a couple of weeks ago, my RC skydiver was in need of major surgery. The body box was in pieces after a 200' dirt dive.

Well after two periods on the operating table, for a total of about 3 hours surgery, Lucky lives.

I gave him a few days to get his strength back and he was airborne again. the jump was a success, but the landing was off. He landed about 25 yards out in the bean field. I have worked on the steering lines on his chute and he is ready for another jump.
