Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say a BIG THANKS to Conrad Young (cyoung450) for saving my 89" 3DHS Slick
today. I was out at the Lake Lewisville club (Falcons) and hadn't flown the Slick all day,was having fun tearing up the sky with my big stick. At the end of the day decided to fly the Slick. On take off
a friend said "hey something just fell off your plane" and I thought "na,musta been a butterfly or something".I couldn't think of anything that could fall off. Then some other guys (one of them Conrad)
said "hey your wheel fell off". I did a low pass and yup,had a wheel missing. All I could think was "well, this is it's last flight" since it is a grass field and I knew when I landed it would rip the bottom of the plane out. I had seen Conrad fly ealier and knew he was a much better pilot than me,so I asked him if he thought he could harrier it in,he said he would give it a shot.I figured even if it got dinged up a bit it would be better off than if I tried to land it.So I handed my radio to Conrad and let him fly it around and get used to it.He decided the best shot would be to harrier it into some knee high grass
to the left side of the pits.Well,he harriered it right across the pits, brought her down low and dropped her from about 3 feet into that tall grass and not a scratch on her,not even a pin hole in the covering!!
Hey Conrad, great job my friend, you can fly my Slick anytime brother!!You have no ideal how grateful I am!Hope too see you again, either there or Seagoville.
Happy Landings,
Jeff Sikes
