I started flying in 1999, but always had a deep interest in RC Planes as a child. Growing up on a farm, and my parents always trying to make ends meet, did not afford me the opportunity to own anything RC related until later in life. I started out flying .40 size models, and then took the leap into GS planes with a Lanier Stinger kit. I had built everything up to this point, and to this day prefer to build rather than buy an ARF. There is something to be said of that feeling you get to see your own creation take flight, rather than a "take it out of the box and assemble" type of thing. I now fly mostly 30cc to 60cc planes. I still have a few glow powered models, but those are of the Saito 4 stroke powered, 1.20-1.50-and-1.80. Still my favorite plane is a 1/4 scale SIG kit, a Spacewalker, built and modeled after Hazel Sig's own plane in Montezuma Iowa. I enjoy modeling to some extent to resemble the full size counter-part, but in general I just like to build and fly. I have held the president position in my club now for several years, and even after a short couple year break, was asked to take the position back. I enjoy being around people, and enjoy talking about just about anything, while flying. I have a lot of knowledge, but also have a lot to learn.
I have an AAS degree in computer networking, and run my own business out my home managing networks, repairing computers, and most anything electronic related. I enjoy working with my hands and enjoy a good challenge.
I manage our clubs website and online social pages. It is a lot of fun. I enjoy anything related to the hobby.
