Shootout Update, Tuesday Afternoon
Just a quick update on some of the days happenings for the Shootout from Tuesday. Len and I arrived at TIMPA a bit after noon to see a field that was pretty busy with pilots practicing, adjusting airplanes, etc.
Len made quick work on getting the scoring trailer positioned while I went off to do my thing with registration.
The Flying Giants crew was there with more electronic gear then I carry to a contest, which is a ton of stuff. (I bring four computers to the Shootout) I think Max and the crew has me beat. Max thrashed on the cellular wireless connection all afternoon as it was giving him fits. The rest of the crew was busy with the video cameras taking in all the action at the field.
The weather was a bit windy and cloudy today, but is looks like the weather is going to clear and we will have some great flying weather for the event.
The most disappointing event of the day was a mid-air between Intermediate pilots Lou Matustik and Pedro Brantuas. Pedro's airplane is repairable and flyable, unfortunately Lou's airplane did not do as well and he had to withdraw from the contest. Brad Hooper will be taking his spot in Intermediate.
I am sure there were all kinds of other happening at the field. I will let the rest of the Flying Giants crew fill you in on all those fun details.
Besides what Max and crew post during the contest, I will be posting complete contest results on the Desert Aircraft website every evening when I return to the hotel room from the field.
Regards,
Anna Wood
