Just like the title, I'm new to gas, was given a 40cc motor, and I'm looking for a kit to build around it.

I'm no stranger to RC or scratch building, so I'm not put off by "builders kits" as long as the end result is a good flying airplane if built to spec.

My largest powered plane to date is a Seagull Superstar with a Saito 180, it's fun, but not scale and although I could use it for entry level, I would prefer to build a plane that I plane on beating to death, at least I will know it will be the wood failing before the glue joints.
Thanks for the help, and if there is any locals that wouldn't mind sharing some info, I'll buy the coffee.
