Ok ... I realized today that this hobby is 25% flying 25% getting and drooling over new gear, and 50% just plain old cool people.
I got up this morning and headed out to go pick up my new 33% extra today.
And as I was in the car I had no worries, because I was dealing with an RC guy.
If I was going to pick up a used car or motorcycle I would have been a bit apprehensive...as in "am I going to get mugged?" "is this a scam"?
But since it was RC related, I was at ease, and just thinking about my how cool my purchase was going to be.
So I drove the 1 1/2 hours, and when I got to the guys house... it was just as I expected.
William (the guy who was selling me the plane) was a nice a guy as anyone I've met involved with this hobby.
Within 5 minutes, we could have sat around and had a few beers all day and discussed planes, pattern flying, covering (guy is SICK.. covering a 35% Carden Edge..wow) and a pile of other plane related stuff.
The Extra was just as described, if not better than I expected, and now I have a new friend in the Pennsylvania area.
I guess what I'm saying is that this hobby is more than airplanes, and fly in's .. its being able to have instant friends all over the country...
And that just kicks ass.
I invited William to check out the site (he had never heard of it) and he seemed pretty stoked that it existed.
So,... hey buddy.. if you made it WELCOME. You'll find a bunch of cool guys here.
Thanks again.
