Hey Paffy,
I did a little reading about the DBU and its still a base coat like the DBC but it takes a catalist unlike the DBC which takes nothing but reducer. From what I read they also said that they are trying to do away with it because most people are using DBC but having a hard time getting rid of it because alot of people that started using DBU like it and still demand it over DBC. As far as taping I guess just do what you said and test it after 45 minutes. |

Now we're all on the same page !
The body shop owner that works with me on this one doesn't like DBC much for some reason I already forgot. He's been using DBU since forever. He also said PPG is pushing the DBC and trying to discontinue DBU, just like you say.
You mix the DBU 1:1,5 with active reducer, so you have to dump whatever is left.
Three sources now say it's OK to tape in 30-45 minutes, so I feel pretty confident about it.
