Craig, It's not as simple as you imagine. The DX7 assigns a switch to each
programmable mix. The switch has to be disabled in order to avoid accidental
reversing of one control surface while flying. This isn't mentioned in the book
or in your post so you may not be aware of it.

hey ken....
if you have a look at your manual you will be able to turn off this switch...you will need to be in progam mix 5 or 6 to do it....but it can be done and very easily. once you are in mix #5 or #6 look for a "SW:" in the centre of the screen but slighty under centre....this is the switch you can either turn on or off or even assign it to another mix. i'm guessing you have the same manual that i'm looking at......but if you don't then send me an email and i can help further if you want
