Although it isn't what you are experiencing, you might want to know about it.

They are sensitive to vibration, IIRC they use something called "solid state relays"(or something close to that), so soft mount is a must.

Some swear by them and other don't want to touch them, you can most likely find more detailed information on UK modeling forums.

I used the gear channel to set it up when I tried it, no problems, although I never used it on an model I flew, due to the above reason.
