Interesting day today. I flew my 3W 40% Extra with 2 x 6014rx on a Powerbox Royal. I noticed right away that the Rxs get really hot in the sun if they are not covered. It isn't even hot here (66deg - and believe me it felt wicked hot compared to our winter!) The Rx's were hitting over 90f after being on for 5 mins just doing the range check. When I let them bake in the sun a while they hit 120f. But - these are nowhere near the temps posted here so I flew.

No probems on the flight - except my Royal said one Rx went in to failsafe once and the other twice. I'm guessing that is something to do with where they are mounted. I'm sure glad I had the RRS/Royal in there! I didn't even notice the RRS switch over. The ground test was perfect from all sides and I sure thought I did a good job mounting them...

My Rx's are shaded by the pilot when the canopy is on. In addition they are mounted on thick foam "floating" the way QQ does his. There is good air flow in the fuse - when I landed the Rx's were 91f.
