Default Re: Yak 54 100cc from china

hi, we're pretty close to china and see a lot of these planes over here. most of these 'generic' type planes do have a lot of issues but if you are willing to deal with them, i guess you would be fine. just to cite an example here. that ultimate that they have on that website you posted comes out really really heavy. the lower wings do not line up with the fuse on both sides so that there is a gap in between the wing and the fuselage and also holds true with the top wing when joined together. i remember holding the rudder in hand and that thing was heavy. the rudder itself looked like it was cutout of hardwood of some sort. you could use the rudder and smash it into someone's face and that thing probably would not break. someone has also had a yak54 of that same scheme but runs on a 50cc engine. the owner had issues with the plane coming out real tail heavy so he had to add about 2 pounds of weight in the nose just to get it balanced out. the result, the yak came in at 19lbs with a da50 engine on it. to make things worse, the landing gear on this yak wasn't forward swept (ugly) so the plane would frequently nose over.

i also do purchase planes from china but i am very picky with what i get. there are a few manufacturers out there that do come out with quality stuff and you just might be surprised at who they produce model planes for.
