Default Re: Want to jump up to a PAU edge 36%

Don't let people tell you that you cannot go to a 100cc because you only flew .40 planes.

I flew for about 2-3 yrs on a funtana 40 while building a 35% Aerotech Edge 540.

What you will find with the larger planes.

More money so the knees knock a little more. I suggest making it slightly nose heavy for the maiden and let an experienced GS flyer maiden it and trim it out. Then fly it cautious. Circle routes up high in low wind and plenty of light. Get in some good touch n go practice as well. Again fly 4 mistakes high and you will be fine.

Big planes fly alot easier but when you get close to the ground its the same as a little one....only for a big one that distance from the ground is higher due to its size.

As for the PAU Edge.......great plane, great service and its simple to tone down the controls on the plane to make it comfortable. You can always move them to more with today's computer radios.

Large gasser......

You need extensions for the rudder/elevator/ailerons
2 servos for the ailerons, four total
2 for the rudder
1 in each elevator
1 throttle
depending on the servos you may need a matchbox device for the servos that are on the same surface.
You should get some kind of throttle kill.....be it a choke servo or optical kill, I prefer the optic kill

You need a 27x10 size prop or larger.
You need a 4 or so inch spinner
You should run 2 batteries on seperate switches......something along the lines of 2400 LIONS or A123. You also need another battery for the ignition.

Your choice if you want a power expander or thing of that nature.

Depending on the batteries you may need regulators. DA engines don't like to go above 6v (I think) and most servos like 6v.

Find someone close by and get their help! It will make setting the plane up and your first flights alot easier.

And before your first flight go back through the instruction manual and make sure every bolt is tight or threadlocked. Have someone go through your plane and do the same thing.

Fly once......then recheck things. Maidens always show you what you forgot to tighten.

Did I forget to mention......Have fun and welcome to GS
