Due to the shape of the chin cowl, the YS regulator actually sticks out further than the chinny. That is why there is an asymetric hole cut out on the front of the chin cowl to let air in. Because of R-thrust, more clearance was needed on the one side of the chin cowl than the other. Also, the header needed some swing-room so that is why the relief hole is there. The pipe stand-off is just a light ply/balsa shelf for the Hatori mount to sit on. It is 7/8" tall.
