Interesting. I have never seen that happen and there are quite a few guys I fly with that have them. The 7075 aluminum is quality stuff. TNT gear is made from 6061 T6 aluminum, which is generally a lower grade aluminum than 7075. But it does look like TNT makes two types of gear for the Yak, 3/16 and 1/4 inch thickness. Maybe the 1/4 gear is your fix.
