Default Re: hi everyone... newbie needs advice...

hey ferret,

here is another idea! go into 100cc first.

i have through a lot of dollars spent, found that for a first gasser model, a 150cc sized aircraft is a very expensive venture. these planes require an engine which is more expensive, usually 4-8 more high dollar servos and a really decent power system. also the airframe itself is considerably more expensive.

the 100cc sized planes today are usually dwarfed at the field by their bigger brothers and true, bigger definately flies better but if the 100cc plane "goes in" the mourning period is a lot less. ie i only use a razor blade with no warm bath.

i am currently flying a xtreme composite 100cc edge and i find it flies as good as the 150cc sized machines. it would be close to being 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a 150cc sized plane. at the end of the day it rolling harriers real nice and its a cinch to torque roll. when setup for imac it excels and feels rock solid.

whatever choice you make, buy the best servos you can. metal gears the minimum.

so ferret go with what your head and wallet tell you. have fun and at the end of the day, THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT.
