I just came inside from doing a little testing with my 3MM TOC 53cc motor. I must give credit when credit is due. It appears that Tom over at Wild Hare is correct about the new mufflers. The new stock mufflers that are supplied with the TOC does rob the motor of atleast 400 rpm.

It was 37 degrees here, preasure 29.99 and dropping, with field elevation at 1642. I had not started my engine in four months. With normal starting procedures, the engine was running. Let the engine warm up for three minutes and then did some quick run-ups and tach reads. Intial readings with the 20mm muffler were 6480.

Next I put the 24mm muffler and re-started the engine. Right from the start, the sound was more throaty, and the low end idle dropped by a 100 rpm. I did not touch the needles. Waited the mandatory three minutes for warm-up and proceded to do run-up and tach reads. There was an automatic 400 rpm increase. I was suprised. Very surprised.

I flew all summer with the 20mm muffler. I was on the deck the majority of the time. I thought the motor was fine at 6400. Now I can't wait to see how it performs on the deck at 6800+. I will provide video as proof of my findings. I do not represent Tom at Wild Hare nor am I affiliated with him. Im still a dawg at heart...
