Default H9 35% extra 260....wing failure...

I actually posted this onto an existing "build thread" on here for this ARF but thought I would also start a new thread hoping to get some input.

I just had to jump in here and comment. I bought a used RTF one of these a few weeks ago on another site. I knew about the wing failures on the some of the first released ones of these. The seller assured me his had been "flown and tested" thoroughly. WELL....on my second flight doing some mid-throttle snaps I heard the "crack/pop" of a wing failing. I landed and sure enough many of the ribs had broken and the sheeting buckled on my right wing. Pieces fell out of the wing like confetti. I knew I should have steered clear of this plane....

I was suprised to see in this forum that the "wing problem" still may be an issue on more recently released ones. Do any of you guys know if and how Horizon is dealing with failures at this time?. I know when this ARF came out a few years ago they were either replacing wings and/or supplying "reinforcing kits". Because i am the second owner i am not too optimistic about getting anything out of them.

I see A replacement wing half is $355 ....lol....what a JOKE!!!!! Thats insane! I am a builder but also have some ARFS as my "regular flyers". I'll peel the sheeting off the bottoms of my wings and put some "real wood and glue" in there before spending that kind of money on a wing HALF that may or may not be strong enough for the job. I am not Bashing H9.... one of my main flyers the past three years has been their 33% extra 330s....great plane...no problems!

just had to "vent" and am hoping somebody may have some thoughts on how to, and if i have any chance when I call Horizon to "gripe".

Thanks,
Steve
