I have asked this question to several builders / manufacturers and they say that if your going to run only on servo then the optimum place for it is about one third from the inner end of the aileron. The answer I got was that it works best there because it still has a decent amount of size there and that being the widest part of a tapered aileron is going to need the arm there to keep it from fluttering. I realize that a wood aileron as opposed to composite can be flexed easily but there is a reason that most airframes are designed this way. |

This is less than a third it's only approx 6" or a quarter from the inner aileron end.
