I used this article as a guide: http://www.geistware.com/rcmodeling/...ine_tune_1.htm
and my engine is doing much better. I set the needle valve lever a tiny bit lower. This has made the idle more consistent. On the other hand, the engine is a little harder to start when cold and top end turned slightly leaner (I had to compensate by opening the high needle a little). I am going to keep it like this for now since I have other issues like end play that may require more extensive repairs, if it's worth it. |

Nice informative article. Good luck on your engine. I have found that when cold, I choke carb and flip prop 6 times with ignition off and throttle wide open. This wets the carb. Then go to quarter throttle, no choke and ignition. Usually, second flip of the prop and it barks and by the 4th it fires. I do flip the prop with purpose. Don't baby it. Engine has been really great to start since I have used this procedure. I am located down below you in Okeechobee, so elevation is about the same. However, I use the same procedure up here in TN this past few weeks and no problem as well.
