The electric setup may well be powerful enough. It also has less cleanup to deal with which enhances portability and quiet operation certainly goes well with glider flying.
Things you should ask yourself about that option:
* How many tows will you get per pack/charge?
* Can you charge very large packs at your field (is there mains power or a generator)?
* Cost. The speed controllers for that size motor cost a mint.
If you plan to do lots of towing in remote locations then its hard to beat a can of gas. The DA-100 is a smooth running motor.
