Hey guys, I re weighed my plane, because I wanted to know why I came out heavy when I really thought I had built lite.
Anyway, here's what I did wrong! I tied my lifting equipment (rope and big shackles etc) to the plane, then lifted it on to my scale that hangs from a steel beam in my garage. This means I was weighing the rope and shackles with it! I forgot to zero the scale with the rope and shackles first! So the weight is 7240gr or 15.96 pounds! I was happy before, even happier now, and I think it's more in line with weights others are getting. I did weigh all the wood and only used the lightest pieces. Did not do any more than what plans show (I did put balsa tristock under stabs against fuse.) Hope the weather holds out for me on Friday! That's when I plan to do it! |

Edit: Mode is right.....too much thought into that.....
But, enough derailment.....Bam Bam this is the baddest profile I have ever seen and even though I swore I would never have another profile, you have caught my attention. Can't wait to see what you can do with it |

Awww man this kind of model floats on thin air you can do anything your imagination tells it to do. profiles of this type are designed to be slowish and do the most outrageous things any normal model would have difficulty or could not do. Their chunky wing lends so much to their friendly behavior and capable slow flight. Lots of thinking time involved too compared to a standard model. Best thing about this type is if you get int difficulty just pull full elevator and do a few loops whilst you plan ahead.

Bam Bam
The plane looks killer, and you'll love the plane. I like mine enough to buy another kit and I'll bash it a little more than the first and still make it a night flyer------- as light as yours or ----close. Run the video camera and lets see how the big profile flys! Big A |

Sucks that I did not!
Easter and bad weather! I set all of today aside for flying, and it's being raining constantly all day with 20-40kph winds! Grrr! Can't tell you how ready I am to get this thing in the air already! |

Whoo Hooo!
Ok, so i finally got to fly this thing last night! What a blast! if this fun does not put a big smile on your face, just get out of the hobby now! Before you ask, sorry no vid! I had the whole field to myself and the weather was just perfect! I really want to get vid of this and the hyperlight slick though, so stay tuned as it will happen soon enough! So how'd it go??? well as you can imagine, it's a floater that can twist and turn like nothing else! The DA-60 is way too much motor for this thing! Seriously! it's insane fun, but takes some getting used to. It has so much torque that when you punch the throttle out of a hover, it shoots up so fast, and torque rolls the whole way up! The 24" prop harriers this plane on idle almost as it's so light! I really punished this plane last night with full speed lines and slaming the sticks with 3d rates, tail touching etc. and the plane did not pop a single joint or anything. I swore i would not tail touch and harrier land so to prolong the life of the plane, but all that went out the window on the first flight! it's just too much fun! with a short wing span and this motor, you really can feel the torque, and it takes a little learning curve, (i flew this after the slick, and that is also insane fun and light as, but being a 40%er, it does not get affected by the torque as much, so it's more stable to hover etc). I had the DA-60 so that's why i used it, and once i got used to correcting for tourque, it's just pure crazy fun! However i think a 50/55cc engine would be still perfect and insane, so if this is what ya got, use it! i MUST get some vid! I really need to show you the insane power and things that this plane does even with my crappy flying! Cheers! |
