Re: THE BEAST:OFFICIAL BUILD THREAD!

While the epoxy is setting, I opened up the fuel tank! Everything is done and it is ready to roll but I don't trust those Chinese Tygon lines, they get stiff after a few months or if the plane stays in your garage during winter! I don't like changing them prematurely so I am going to change all the lines with Dubro Tygon! I will use everything else, tank, stopper, clunk,.. they even have soldered barbs! It is really complete. BTW, I am not going to waste fuel line on the vent, that one can get stiff lol

Anyways, got some pics to follow later... Going back to building

Stock tank is 32oz

I decided against using the stock tank. wanted to try a water bottle setup in something.

Now that's nice! Just got my tank done. Should've gone your route! That leaves space around the tank for wiring! Very nice buddy!

How long roughly did it take you to build it?

Thanks,

Over all it was a very straight forward build. Quality was very good and the manual was very well written. It is easy enough to build for a new modeler without a lot of experience. I highly recommend this airplane. A+

The nice thing is if I decide to add a smoke setup (which I am tempted to do) two of them will fit side by side with no problems at all.

I havent flown it yet, I just finished it up this past week but hopefully next weekend I can get a few flights on it.

To be honest I dont know who makes them, Its from a kit that I purchased from my local hobby store.

Sullivan makes a similar fitting:

That fitting wont work for the fuel pickup line (in the bottle cap) though.

Re: THE BEAST:OFFICIAL BUILD THREAD!

Thanks buddy! I am sure there are plenty of people that have theirs sitting to be built. In the letter they sent out, said something this is one of first 300 they sold! Hope the build thread brings some motivation to those who have theirs sitting to be built and enjoy it plus there are many out there that would like to know about the plane and consider it as their next bird!

I welcome everyone who has built theirs to share their own way as well! One thread and lots of info! Just like the bottle tank!

Thanks man!

Re: THE BEAST:OFFICIAL BUILD THREAD!

Let's see how it goes, I may even change. You are so correct, you can easily fit both next to each other! Quique was using canister tunnel in his but you cant do that if you are running canisters!

Re: THE BEAST:OFFICIAL BUILD THREAD!

Stab Installation:

Stab fit was somewhat tight. I would've liked it a little tighter as I recall Python was but that is not an issue. Made some measurements and marked it to remove the covering. Leave 1/8"-1/4" of covering so incase first set of measurements were not 100% correct you don't end up with bare stab.

I always take lots of time and sweat over this step! it is almost an irreversible process! Guys, measure 10 times! Put your lower wing tube on and also check alignment! I followed the manual myself but since the stab was not super tight, slightest amount of pressure would make it move! I will finish this part tomorrow. It will take me at least 1 hour to make measurement for the God Knows how many times! Sorry I am very careful on this part and don't trust myself unless reading confirms 3 times that is correct!

I will use CA! Balsa and CA is a very strong combination! I saw another gentleman on another thread using epoxy, if you'd like to do that is it is fine but will be a little messier!

Pics follow tomorrow!

Re: THE BEAST:OFFICIAL BUILD THREAD!

BTW, Played with DA120 a little and this thing is state of art! Look at that hub! I will post some pics with DA120 and DA100L on scale! With the power I saw on Quique's Beast at Nall, this thing will be very hard to be beat! I hope for the same performance on mine! If I can make this bird 26 or sub 26lbs with DA120, I will register it as Rocket category not an airplane
