Let me reword this, there was no changes to dimensional design, porting, combustion chamber ect..When I talk to Fergus Ill get a list of the metallurgy, temperance’s and coatings for you. The cosmetic appearance of the cylinders is really impressive.

Not sure. Fergie does run my pipes on a few planes but he also has others as well i think.

Hey, I had a good crash went in nose first, hard and fast. The 61 won't rotate thru, only half way,so I need parts. Sense I bought the engine from Kole and he is out of it now.Who do I contact for parts?
Going to need crankshaft & rod assembly and rod bearings, wrist pin, for sure. It might not be even salvageable won't know till I get it apart. |

no that wasnt one of daves pipes, if it was it would've been in my bag and not on the counter
Timble - not sure on metallurgy etc, Fergus just told me they are way more temp tolerant now. cylinder bore tolerances are also incredibly small, i cant recall the exact figures so wont go quoting any. bottom line is that a good product is just getting better. New cylinders do not produce more power, there is no re-design - it was about making sure that quality is just second to none! Dave, a trip to Joe Nall ............... one day........... one day when i'm big |

Ok thanks. Any word on a change of ignition? Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same but mine seems to have started backfiring in Flight. I swapped out the hall sensor for one from a DLA but no change. I had 6 flights today and on 2 of those the engine backfired so badly the spinner shifted but didn't come off!! The ignition is the GP branded RCEXL high voltage unit.

That's the first place I would look to is the ignition and sensor swap.
And Joe Lewis did get a hold of me and he will have parts. If I ever buy another GP It will be from him,This 61 has been a dark cloud hanging over me ever sense I bought it. I think I have been HEX! |

Pipe business, I hope not I contacted the dealers around me and not one has parts in stock for a 61.
I put off buying a muffler for now waiting to see how hard of time I have getting parts. Thanks to the guy's that responded to me when I ask about a muffler. With some luck I will be calling you in the future. Joe Lewis said he will have parts in about a week,so as of now he is my only hope. |

Fergus,I don't have the tools or the skill to straighten a bent crankshaft.I have to buy new parts to repair the engine. It really shouldn't take more than a crank and rod.The rod bearings and wrist pin should be good, but as long as I have it apart and for the price I might as well be sure and replace them.
I can't afford to buy another brand new engine. The new parts to repair should be a lot less,at lease I hope they are.If not I will just sell the engine for a spare case and cylinder. Thank You, for your response. |
