Can someone smarter than me tell me if this would work?
The idea is to be able to cut power from ignition from a spare channel. I want the circuit so that the ignition circuit is closed when reciever output is 0v. Then at the flick of a switch on the TX the ignition is cut, without drawing to much current from reciever battery or frying ignition module or crashing plane etc

well it looks like it should work ok but if it will transfer rf to your receiver is the next thing.a good engine running ground range check should tell you that

It looks to me like you are assuming the signal from the receiver is a binary signal, 0V = 1 and 6V =0. This is not correct, it's not a go-nogo voltage type signal.

A servo output signal is a pulse which varies in length to command servo position. An on-off switch simply shifts the puls duration between something like 1.1ms to 1.9ms to signal full on or full off.

Your circuit will be switching on and off about 30 times per second.

I use a servo arm to actuate a micro switch between the battery and the ignition. I use the gear switch to turn power off. With this system, if you lose power to RX, then you are SOL.

Basically just an electronic version of a servo and mechanical switch but smaller, lighter and with no moving parts.

Budgetdude has the right idea there. Nobody with any logical sense builds their own smart switch - why waste your time and money doing so when there is already a $50, proven option?

Maybe because it's fun?

This is a hobby after all.

Everything that is for sale was built by somebody when there probaby was another way to do it.

it should work but unless you like to just build i would buy whats already avable out in the market place

just remember thats what makes this hobby so great lots of room for all at my age (older than dirt) i just want to fly ,and bigger because i cant see little lol
