I did mine the same way John (aka Lazun) did. CF tube, wrapped joints with CF tow, wicked in CA and then sanded a bit. Strong and light.
By the way; very smart thing you did with the R-pin connection.

Is that a Krill-wing you have there? If it is, how did you fasten the stationary part of the sight in the wing tip? Did you have to reinforce it somehow?

Yes it is a Krill....I cut a small square out of the wing, in the flat area near the tip, in front of the aileron balance. Then i could reach in and position small wood hardpoints inside the wingtip.

I installed blind nuts in the hard points before epoxying them into place. Drill your mounting holes thru the tip first, so you can accurately position them. Epoxied the small square back into place when finished.

The R pin allows the bulk of the sight to be removed for transport.

I know this isn't your primary interest and btw I think the sights you guys made look really cool and help with the scale vibe, but I saw this photo of a pattern plane w/a sight and what looks like a camera taking a picture so that the pilot can check (later or real time?) how he's doing with his attitude in maneuvers. I think that's awesome.

Thanks for the info! Can't wait to begin working on them. The connection with the R pin is brilliant!

@N233W I have never seen anyone use a camera that way, but it must be a good way to get the lines more exact. The next natural step would be to have a video link to the transmitter i guess, so that you can make corrections while you're flying. A bit out of my "Sunday-flying-league", but as you say: really cool!

Yeah, I would really like to see whether I am nailing the 45's at the ends of the box (or in the middle for that matter)!

Seems to me that would only work in a no-wind situation....since we're judging track instead of attitude (as full scale does).

Right you are; no wind or direct crosswind...
