If you use the sensor from the mvvs you should be ok. All magnets are the same so that shouldn't need to be changed. You just need to know how to set the timing angle for the zdz (do this when you mount the sensor). It's the same process as setting it on the mvvs. Top dead center is the same on all engines. My ZDZ 50NG's "before top dead center" firing angles were specified in mm but I prefer using a degree wheel. It's much more accurate. Does mvvs specify a BTDC firing angle for that ignition? That's what it will need to be on the ZDZ.

You can use any ignition on any engine as long as you use the compatible sensor with the ignition, and know the BTDC firing angle for the sensor. Assuming also that all engines have a magnet mounted on their hubs.

And the polarity of the magnet is right for the sensor

I guess you could test it by powering the mvvs ignition and waving the sensor over the ZDZ magnet. It should yield a healthy spark to work correctly. You could also just tape the sensor to the engine temporarily and flip the prop.

no you cannot test it like that.
After firing, it needs to "see" the south pole magnet before it can fire again.
