It's coming together! I have the servos working and the muffler mounted. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the cowl cut and hopefully start looking into updating the batteries and checking the rest of the airframe and servos for anything that needs attention.

Getting there. The fuel tank is out getting all the fuel lines replaced and the ignition components and battery have been checked and mounted. I got the cowl cut for the mufflers, but will have to do a bit of trimming to account for the offset in the engine and muffler. I've been working this past week and haven't had much time to work on the Sukhoi, but I'm off now and am hoping to finish the overhaul in the next few days.

Gee Ryan. It looks like your taking out 1.5Lb. and adding 25% more power. I don't think you're going to like it. LOL.

Yeah the header and can on the previous engine were pretty heavy, in addition to the actual engine being a little heavier as well. The MT canister made for a unique engine sound but didn't actually reduce the noise nearly as well as a KS can. In the end I decided that a good pitts muffler on a 50-60cc engine is plenty of noise suppression for most fields.

I have a 24x10 prop for the 60 - do you think that's too big?

Ryan, what muffler are you using?
As for a prop. I am using a PAU 23x8 on my 60, and I like a lot.
I first though I might change it to a 24x10, but now I like it just the way it is.

Herve, I have a Slimline Pitts on it. I generally prefer running smaller props on my engines versus bigger props, so I may order another PAU 23x8. My current 23x8 is drilled for the MT, which has a different bolt pattern. I'm also considering which spinner to get - the 4" seems a bit more appropriate with the 60 versus the little 3.5"

I used a 24-10 Mej. on the 60 when I first got it. It got broke and I had a 23-8 Mej. on hand so I used it. Altho the 60 pulls the 24-10 fine. I think you will like the 23-8 better cause it will spool up faster and will have less of a Torc effect. Better for 3D.

I actually got the prop size wrong; I have a 24x8. The prop has a "10" printed on the back so that's why I got that number stuck in my head. I just might try the 24x8 and see how I like it. It's a Xoar, which is pretty meaty compared with a Mejzlik, so I still may end up dropping the size down. We'll see.

All ready to go! Looks like I should have any problems getting a small screwdriver in through the front of the cowl to adjust the mixture. I had a carbon fiber spinner laying around, so I'm using that until I can get a white No Limitz. Hoping to get a test flight on the next decent day, but looking at the weather forecast that may not be for a little while.

Looks good Ryan! I think I even like the looks of the CF spinner!

Looks good Ryan. Your weather is not as bad as ours. I'm just on the Edge of the Hurricane but it still sucks.

Looks like there is a full scale wing being refurbished or built in your RC Hangar.

Jeff, I do too, although to be perfect it could be a size or two bigger. The CF look for this plane is kind of growing on me though!

Tom, I guess I like that moniker, the RC Hangar. The deal was, the wife gets the barn, and I get the garage. The wings you see in the background are part of my RV-7 project.

Cool We have an RV-8 in a hangar at the field where my Converse Club is. I see it out once in a while. They're pretty cool.
You should start a build thread on it just for us. It's just 1 to 1 scale. The good thing would be that you don't have to tell anyone where you're putting the rudder servos and how many you're using.
A good friend of mine is building a Lance Air. He hasn't been working on it much since he lost his medical. We used to go flying in his 1956 Cessna -172. I liked flying in it better then the newer ones. It has a lower dash and you can see out of it better. We haven't been flying since.
