The Run Way Is Wet
Saw some pic's awhile ago of formation flying while skimming across the water

I read a post about this someplace else and someone stated that locking the brakes is not necessary. It is simple hydroplaning, just the water is deeper. Something to do with the air pressure in the tires and the weight being exerted on the surface of the water all wrapped up in speed and the square root of this and a dash of the tangent of that...
Your car will hydroplane on an inch of water, why wouldn't an airplane do the same. Depth is irrelevant. It is wicked cool to see though. Didn't Sean D. Tucker or Jim LeRoy do this here in the States once on for a TV special? Amazing Videos or That's Incredible or something? Jon |
