Traveling
I am making a trip from Louisiana to Ohio over thanksgiving and will be hauling my big trailer if anyone needs one picked or or dropped off along the way there and back for small fee

We almost need a sticky to post our travel availability. I went from TN to MN with an empty station wagon thinking the whole way I could be hauling 1-3 airplanes for people.

This is a great idea, as others have mentioned. It seems there is always a plane sold, bought, flying event or something going on that transportation would be helpful in completing. Maybe a thread just for "Transportation"??? It would definitely cut down on cost of shipping and certainly less damage than our illustrious shipping companies seem to be able to offer. To the gentleman with the station wagon... You don't use a forklift and a gorilla for handling...right???? LOL

You just run over it a few times and smash it down to maximize shipping space. They do start out as a pile of sticks anyway.
I'm super careful, and pad with soft blankets, and drive super careful around turns and bumps with planes. It bugs me sometimes when people start to help load or unload at the field because they don't know how I like it packed and they just go for it. Better me scuffing my own plane than someone else. Sometimes I think I'm too careful, but it seems to pay off when things last longer. |
