You know you have a SCHWEEEEEET plane when you have to wear a respirator while working on it routed the servo leads (PITA in these ultra thin wings) cut out the bays to fit the servos did not expect that seeing how these are the smallest servos out there....then soldered the servo plugs....OK,back to work

At a minimum it needs a fuse and a cowl.
Bet you were cussin' the whole time yelling REALEASE!!!! Some guys just don't see what's going to happen. All they can think is my gliders going to get hurt. As having flown both sides my first instinct in anykind of trouble is to flip the switch and make due. No sense in mesing up to planes and taking funaway from other guys who may need a tow.

Hard to tell that's one of the very few things that pushes a button with me huh?

Ok here goes.

I was towing a plane that was probably at or near the weight limit of what the Pawnee could pull, it was a 6m composite glider. The pilot wanted to take off from the grass which probably caused excessive drag and didn't help matters. Also, when you take off it takes a little while before you can see both the tow plane (that you're concentrating on flying) and the glider. By the time I knew the glider was in trouble he called that he was releasing so I kept going. By the time I realized that his release failed the Pawnee was on its way to being headed straight up and it stalled and piled in.

The glider pilot had the release on a 3 position switch and isn't sure he went far enough to actually let go in the panic. The video clearly shows the glider snapped and pulled the tail down.

In summary, this happened fast, very fast when you consider the time between when I could see both planes and when the crash actually happened. We should have taken off from the runway for better speed. He should have released immediately when things got dicey.

Yes I said video....there's ground video and a Go-Pro on the tow plane. Yes I'll post it when I get time.

The glider pilot offered half the cost of replacing the fuse and cowl, I haven't made up my mind on accepting that yet as I knew what I was getting into and he tore up the glider pretty good as well.

I had almost the same thing but the glider went up and the toe string got under my tail turned me straight down I was full throttle straight down not going anywhere and the wings on that glider had a load on then so I hit the release and flew away we both came out OK but almost lost both !
