Re: Jimbo

Thats why I used the regulator w/batt share along with the P.E. Sport on my 33%. I use A123's which really don't need the reg, but the work load on the reg is (I believe)low since A123's hold voltage pretty good. I hear you about the P.E. Sport alone, not good unless you have a Battshare option with it , just thought the word "Isolation" would clear up any cornfusion! Now go CG yourself!!!

Re: Do PE's Double/Parallel Capacity?

I haven't used any switches between my Rx packs (2300 mAh A123s) and the PE Sport but after realizing this I think I'm gonna go with a Fromeco Wolverine switch. Talked to them the other day and although the odds of an A123 battery going bad due to an internal short, i would still like the piece of mind in having them isolated from each other.

Wolverine

So the Wolverine would take care of the quote "sharing" part?
If one pack does have a problem, the Wolverine would take it out of service instead of
allowing it to draw the other pack down with it?

Good stuff.

Happy Holidays!

That's what they tell me. Although I will say that both Fromeco and Smart Fly said the odds of a battery shorting internally are very small. More likely to have a cell go bad and just draw down quicker.

Still, having that bit of protection seems reasonable.

Merry Christmas,

That's good because that's how I've been running the Sport on my 35%, through a Wolverine.
I'll have to get a Pro soon and just put that in there I guess.

I don't see the need for a Pro as the Wolverine gives that isolation of the 2 batteries. Just sayin.

Re: Do PE's Double/Parallel Capacity?

hi guys,
i'm new to gassers and i'm trying to decide on what to go for my 30% pitts. i would appreciate your help.
i read a lot about just using 2X Life batteries with the dual switches, each one going to different channels on the receiver (as a redundant ).
from what i read this needs no regulator or anything just plug them in and fly.
i was thinking of using a similar setup e.g.
1 X hobbico Life 2100mah and 1X hobbico Life 3200mah (one lead to the receiver and the other lead to the ignition on the 3200mah pack ) thus eliminating the ignition pack.

1. how would this setup work ?
2. and what happens if a battery shorts ?
3. can i do the setup with different capacity packs ?

to be honest what are the odds of a battery shorting out ? in 13 years flying nitro i never had any battery short out, but what happens if the regulator or what ever electronic your using goes out ?
thanks
