Extra 260 30% Pilot RC build thread!
Hi everyone!
Well, as I anticipated at my "newcomers" post, IŽll be doing the build thread of my new Extra 260 30% from Pilot-RC. This is going to be a slow building, because I have to save up money to buy all the electronics and the engine. Here I write the electronics Im thinking of: Servos Hitec 5585 all around except the rudder. For the rudder, Išll be choosing the Hitec 7955 that I had so good comments about it. The FlightPower VR-8LG voltage regulator. And I didnt choose any battery for the RX, I dont know how much mah will need all the servos, I fly in 72mhz PCM, and Im going to use the R149DP, that works at 6V. I was thinking of some Lipo 11.1V of 2000mah, how about that? or ? But for the CDI I had been looking to the Hobbico NiMh 4.8V 2000mah, that Im useing on my os gt33. About the engine, Im going to buy the DLE 55, with canister i guess (I cant stand the horrible sound it has) but I dont know wich one to choose... (someone to recommend??), and a Xoar 22x8 to get started. So, I leave some photos of the package and the model out of the box with all the accessories. Greetings to all! |

Great flying plane, mine has a DLE55, Pro Flow canister and a Xoar 23x8 - killer setup. If I can be helpful let me know.
My biggest gripe on my plane was the incidence on the horizontal stab was built way off, so make sure and check your numbers. With a canister it will come in tail heavy, so keep that in mind. |

Good to know that, for the moment on my plane thereŽs nothing wrong. Just a little question, where did you bought the canister? Did you have any issue with that canister? I will need to order it from some RC shop... Thanks for the comments!!! |

I use his medium sized canister with a MTW header and get almost 7,000 RPM plus it sounds great. The DLE55 stock muffler sounds like a chainsaw from hell.

Well people, here some pics about the build of the horns for the elevator and the rudder, as well as the building of some other things, as the build of the fuel dot, that I wanna say that is better than some Ive seen at the field, that have a o-ring as the stopper, my dot is threaded, much better than those others.
Any suggestion you have to do, I say welcome to all of them!! Good flights!! |

I forgot to post the pics of the install of the rear landing gear, is nice to have that little door to have acces to the interior zone of the fuse.
Good flights!! |

for you radio set up you would be better of going with
Savox SA-1231SG 444 oz of torque at 6 volts and 2 hobbico life 2200mah packs and run dual switches do some research before you buy you can run the life batteries unregulated to your receiver and servos makes setup worry free http://www.savoxusa.com/Savox_SA1231...avsa1231sg.htm http://www.lifesourcebatteries.com/hcam6435.html |
