It should say wet or dry. Can be used for both

Are you going to wet sand or dry sand the sheeting?

I was going to ask the same thing mostly when I have used 2000 it has been wet.... It was over basecoat / clearcoat and not balsa though.....

Re: Ultra Light 55% Extra 260

Since reading this thread i've started sanding to 2,000 also...by the time I get to 600 grit it feels like you're just rubbing the wood (like back in highschool) so it does not load up the sandpaper, thus no water needed. It does make a difference, though, you can see the balsa take on a sheen for sure when you're up in the 1,500 range. I found 3M 2,000 grit in the paint touch-up aisle at Walmart and 2,400 grit from Rockler Woodworking.

Bob, could you explain the hand burnishing part ? thanks !

Re: Ultra Light 55% Extra 260

i think that when bob is done with the 2000 grit, he adds a secret step! i think he flys to Fiji, scubas out about a 1/4 mile off shore at a hidden beach, goes to a depth of precisely 28.125 ft and gathers the sand from a special sand dollar's resting place. he then brings this back to the states and has the sand pulverized and adhered to an eqyptian linen and finishes the sanding with this!! LOL

I just had to! bob, your work is truly inspirational!
