I did a few today at the field. Lots of fun. I was able to get one on the first try. Not as smooth as I would like but that comes with practice. And I learned on my 4th one what happens without enough speed: The snap roll doesn't finish and you end up in a bad position. But like Josh said, a few mistakes high, so I was able to recover. A little scary though. Thanks for the how-to Josh. These are fun manevers.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but I saw on your flight setups that you have Neu Motors, on your 89" Slick and 119" Extra. If I remember correct you had Hacker A60-18L on the 89" Slick before. What made you change to Neu Motors? Perhaps this is discussed in some other thread. Would be interesting to learn some more especially from someone who has used two different power systems in the same plane.

I think I'm going to build a setup just like yours.

I usually stop at around 6 min, but I'd be burning 3200-3500 mah, so I could go to 7-8 min if I need to.

The Neu setup, pound per pound will give you the best power. The gearbox spools up smoothly, and for those missing some kind of a sound from your electric setup, here's an option .

Sweet, thank you. I have a 102" QQ Yak with a Neu 2215 1.5Y and it's very powerful. I'm wanting to go slightly smaller.

2215 should be about right for a 35% setup. If you want to go smaller, I'd go with 1527

The simulator is great to learn torque rolls, lets you learn the inputs. Then a good foamy is great to practice on. That's how I learned.

I had an OMP Yak profile b4 and had to learn to stop it from doing torque rolls. It had a Saito 82 for power.
