Once again, you tube videos of the show very enjoyable and happy to see new models, like the new Top Flight giant scale P47 and Sig now carrying Seagull Models . JR's new mouse feature on their 28 x is also a great innovation and very exciting to see. Looks like I really need to make time for this show next year. Looks like a lot of fun!

The Weak Signals group work very hard to put the show on I`m sure and the cost of the Seagate Center is stiff also.
I used to work it every year with Carden and a few others along wth my wife and it cost us easily a $1000 to spend the weekend there.
The booth cost was getting out of hand and I do know that several of the Mom & Pop companies just couldn`t do it anymore.

I`m not sure there is a fix or if it could ever be back to the old days in product and attendance.
WRAM show did he same thing over time.
I do miss the old days amd friends at Toledo.

I want to share the reply I got from the director of the Toledo show.

Apparently the Toledo show is very reasonable to attend as a vendor as you will read. There must be other reasons (as a lot of you have said) that is keeping the manufacturers from attending.

Here is the reply and please feel free to send a message to Rick if you feel they need to know feedback as I did. They won't know unless you speak.

Karl,

Thanks for the ideas. The local general public loves the skids of toy flying things. I in fact bought a very cool R/C tank for my grandson from one of those guys, so they do have a place.

I agree that filling the place with 'real' manufacturers would be ideal however there simply are not that many real manufacturers around to fill the place. There is no need to lower our price to attract them. Our booths cost $450 for a 10 x 10 and that price includes FREE electricity, wireless internet, tables, and chairs along with no union issues that all other tradeshows have requiring you to pay fees just to plug stuff in or assemble a booth. Any other tradeshow in the country would cost over $1,500 for a 10 x 10 minimum assuming you buy electricity and wireless internet, a table and a couple chairs. Many are way over that price so the Toledo show is actually the best value by far in the industry. And we have the lowest admission price at the door.

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts and I hope that you otherwise enjoyed the show.

one word explanation:

internet

thanks in part to al gore we have the internet. the internet has filled the void that the wram show and Toledo show used to fill. it would make no sense for a company to attend a trade show anymore unless it was for dealers/mfgs only. remember tool shows ? remember computer shows? all have fallen victim to the internet. everything you want or need is at your fingertips. even more than at a trade show.

I was hoping there would've been some good discussion in regards to the plane.

Nice to see Andrew Jesky getting into the business. Not crazy about the Lazer as compared to Yaks and Extras, but his design looks very innovative. Looking forward to more from him. Kudos for his participation in the show.

P47 Coming

I have a Top Flite Giant P-47 Razorback on its way to me right now. I hope it gets here soon because it is getting cold sitting by the curb waiting for UPS!

You should start a new thread on this Tom and fill everyone in on your plans for this plane.

I think the masses will enjoy your story.

Ironic this bump comes just 1 day before the Ontario, CA show. We are more excited than little kids at Christmas. Sure hope we have a good show this year. I'm going with 2 guys who are planning on picking up GS warbirds at the show.

scooter...please post if your friends are successful. I don't remember any show vendor having much in the way of gs warbirds. Dynamic Hobbies has various top flits and h9 planes in stock. I've had my eye on the FW 190.
