Correct ... red anodized from Tru Turn. Tell 'em what prop you want it cut for and they will do it for a couple extra bucks.

I tried a DA85 on canister and a pipe... the pipe required me to cut out a little of the back of the canister tunnel. I though the plane flew very well on either setup. I've heard that a 60cc motor is marginal on this plane, but better on a pipe. The only modification you need for an 85 is to add an additional 1/2 inch to the front of the motor mount. Everything else bolts right up, including the placement of the throttle servo.

I've ordered a dle85...will use the supplied anti vibration mount with slightly shorter standoffs....my only concern was whether the firewall has enough strength to bear the additional weight of a 85.....I read somewhere that the dle85 vibrates NO MORE than a dle55

I added some carbon fiber cloth and West Systems Epoxy on the corners at both ends of the motor box. My original Extra flew for over a year with no problems. Even after I crashed it, the glue joints, corners, etc.. were still intact.

The DA85 has always been known as a "shaker", but I didn't have any problems with it.

I also have the DA 85 on my plane. Like Mike said, 1/2" plywood spacer for the DA,not sure how big of a spacer the DLE requires. I pin the motor boxes on all of my planes,so that was already done, I did add fiberglass cloth around the corners of the motorbox and the underside also. I am using a Pro Flow large canister and made 2 plywood mounts in the tunnel. I made the mounts so they are removeable, so they are attached with nuts and bolts.

I moved the rudder servo to the tail. The planes is much easier to attain cg with an 85 than a 60. The first engine I had was an EME 60 with stock muffler, that combo just didn't have good vertical performance and was tail heavy.

A good 60 on a tuned pipe has good power, but the 85 is the ticket in my opinion.

My 85 is finally broken in, I was using a Xoar 26x12, which gave the plane crazy top speed(maybe too much), but lacked braking. I switched to the Xoar 26x10 and I love this combo, awesome acceleration, vertical, slows down a little better.Perfect.

In terms of vibration, I was expecting the plane to be jumping all over the place, not the case at all and not one glue joint broken or anything for that matter and I fly the crap out of this plane.
