Re: New Fancy Foam MX2 !!!

Hey guys, I have a question, I am 1 defunct' servo away from finishing this thing. I finished all the pushrods (except the rudder last night). I was looking at the airleron hinge, and it seems flimsy. I havent built a foamy in about 3 years but I know that it seems funny. Instead of the aileron staying perfectly inline with the trailing edge of the wing it sags about 3-4mm. It just doesnt seem to be done right (on my doing). Is there any tricks you guys have to fix this?

Re: New Fancy Foam MX2 !!!

Crash,
Ive had that problem with my first two Mx2's . There are a few ways to fix this.
Use the highest hole on the aileron control horn.
Make tighter Z-bends
Or, if all else fails, what i did on my third was when you create / attach the aileron linkages, hold the ailerons 3-4mm above the wing, so if they do sag, they will be inline with the wing.
But i found very little difference in flight with alittle sag in the ailerons. I worked an extra 45 minutes getting them inline to make the ailerons look better

If you look here at my first Mx2's build log , My ailerons drooped 3-4mm as well, it flew pretty well, KE flight needed a little elevator adjustment, but not much with a high rate of expo. Once when i changed it so it was perfectly straight, it flew alot better, but it was not needed.

Thanks for that! I thought about doing that. I also thought about making an actual hinge (tyvek ect...) to fix it. I guess if it flies well you cant argue with that. I am going to do some experimenting with it and see how it goes. Thanks again!

Hi everyone i just got my mx2 flying got like 10 flight on it now and its awsome, I have only flown it with a 8-3.8 and 8-4.3. What is the right prop to get the best performance? I'm running a hacker 10-9L and 2s 350s.

Thanx Dean

Honestly, its all subjective. It depends on what you like. an 8x6 hauls butt for outdoors, the 8x4.3 is super torquey, but less top end speed, and the gws 8x4DD is my favorite because its managable for indoors. But I like the 8x4.3 is actually my favorite outdoor prop actually... Hope this helps!

I'd really suggest the 8x4.3 or 8x3.8 you fly it in smaller areas and want less speed. What brand of these props have you used?

I use the gws's light and work well. I fly it outdoor and inside so i was looking for a balance between the 8-3.8 and 8-4.3 to kinda have best of both world, i agree the 8-4.3 is very snappy.
Thanx

On my MX2 I used a 8x4 and a 8x4.3
I, personally, like the gws 8x4.3 better than the gws 8x4, because i like the power (I fly outdoors, because...)

I would go with a GWS 8X4.3 because:

1. They do not need an adapter to fit the A10-9L and A10-15s

2. More power!

3. Because they do not need an adapter, they are ~1 gram lighter!

4. They look better!(In my opinion)

We like to run the 8x4's for indoor use because the walls come up quick when you use an 8x4.3. The 8x4.3's are lighter in general. Less plastic used. Higher rpms, more pitch, amazing torque and speed! Indoor competition is an exception .
