Wondering if any fellow Giants have one of these on the way. I have always had a big soft spot for Hazel Sig's Clipped wing Cub. When I saw the pictures of David Shulman's 50% I drooled for over a week. If transportation wasn't an issue for me, I would already own that one. The day I heard Bill Hempel was doing it in a 40% I knew I had a solution to my problem!!!!! It always seems like the slow boat from China always goes slower when one of my toys is on board.....but not this time! Seems like Bill only mentioned a week or so ago that the planes had hit the water. I figured maybe by the end of February. To my surprise, I got an email last night from Bill stating the container was in the states and he should have the planes in his posession ready to ship in a week or so. I am so excited about it.....finally a fun, aerobatic Sunday flier that is not an Extra, Edge, Yak, etc. I will do a full build thread upon its arrival.

Anyone else getting one??? Please chime in if so. Bill Hempel has definitely brought a fun new twist to the ARF market with all of these new releases. The 60% Cub and 60% Extra are sure to be show stoppers wherever they fly, and now with the 'baby' Cub more of us can enjoy the fun. Thanks again Bill....I can't wait!!!!!!

I am getting a yellow 40%. I would very much like to participate in a build thread. I will be vacationing for the next month and will not start the build until march. I have asked Bill for some information on number of servo bays on the wing and stabs. Also whether it tends to be tail heavy, as apparently the 50% does. I will be ordering equipment while I am down south and will be very interested in any photos and observations you might have after opening the boxes.

I have owned a few cubs in the past (presently have a Goldberg cub with an Enya 90 4 stroke). It is in mothballs, as are all my glow planes, since having discovered giant scale. I owned a full scale super cub at one time. It was a great airplane. I have always considered the J3 to be the Quintessential aircraft and am pleased that a giant scale ARF in this size is available.

Good Deal Craig, I was thinking along the same lines as you were. I have Bills Yak and am finishing up a my 50% 260 now and was wondering about my new trailer size. I saw Andy Kanes 50% clipped wing the other day and it needs a trailer by itself, but the 40% would solve most of the size problems. What motor- servo, battery combo you considering? Got an e-mail from Bill. Two servos each elevator half and two each wing. He also thinks it will be tail heavy. I will probably use 8611's on the elevators, and 8711's on the wings, and two 8711's on pull pull for the rudder. I like the power box royal, probably with big L-ions. Engine choice will depend on space and weight requirements.

sounds good guys! Sounds like there will be a few around. I too plan on a mix of 8611's and 8711's. I was planning on a DA 100, but if it is tailheavy and looks structuraly beefy enough, may go with a 150

I am not getting the 40% but I owned the 50% and I had, 2 8711 per aileron half, 2 8711 per elevator half, 2 8711 on the rudder with a pull pull system, plane flew fine with plenty of authority in Knife Edge, receiver was a AR 9100 with 2 5200 mah the motor was a 275, if that setup worked on a 50% it should be more than enough on a 40%, good luck guys.

Yes Matt, I sold it to make room for the 60%, just imagine a 50% Cub, a 50% Edge and a 60% Extra not to mention a bunch of 40%ers so few had to go.

are people putting 150's in the 40center??? if it is tail heavy, that would make sense eh? let's hear some opinions.
